This adapter gives Kenwood and other radios with K2 connectors the ability to use a much more convenient and simple solution, the K1 two-pin connector. Once attached to the radio there is very little reason to remove the adapter, simply unplug the K1 connector of your earpiece from the adapter to detach and plug back in when it's time to use the radio. Some users find this solution more elegant than using a standard K2 earpiece.
